KEYS (SECRETS) TO SUCCESS IN APPLYING FOR FULBRIGHT
SECRET NUMBER 1/ THE DEADLINE IS APRIL 15.
Do not wait until April 14, to apply and do your study objective or research proposal! Start now.
Before you start to write a study objective, you must go to universities’ websites that have a program related to your field of interest.
You cannot write a study objective unless you know what courses are and what the program requirements are.
The Study objective is the most important part of your application.
SECRET NUMBER 2/ DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Before you apply find 5 universities and MA or PhD programs that meet your objectives. See what the course are and the requirements of those programs. Compare them. Only then can you write your study objective.
First Question at an interview: “What US university graduate programs have you looked at on line that you would like to apply to and why?”. incorporating the answer to this question in your STUDY OBJECTIVE demonstrates you have a clear focus and idea of what program is best for your goals…
SECRET NUMBER 3/ FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE GRE OR GMAT TESTS, AND THE INTERNET BASED TOEFL TEST.
Study guides are available at Book Stores and at AMINEF. Start studying NOW. Grantees who get in to the best schools have done this and scored well on these tests. Some grantees who are successful getting grants DO NOT get into MA or PhD programs because they have NOT studied and NOT done well on these REQUIRED tests.
The Institutional TOEFL test and the Internet based TOEFL test are very different tests. Do not assume because you have a high Institutional score you will get a high INT score. STUDY!
SECRET NUMBER 4/ EDIT YOUR STUDY OBJECTIVE AND RESEARCH PROPOSALS MULTIPLE TIMES.
Find a native speaker or a Fulbright Alumnus to help you.
SECRET NUMBER 5/ CONTACT AMINEF
For answers to questions you have regarding the application process, what is needed, and anything you don’t understand, please contact us.
